Out of Hours Service

When We Are Closed

Please note that both Rowhedge Medical Practice and University of Essex Medical Centre have their phones switched to an answerphone service for lunch Monday to Friday between the hours of 12:30 and 13:30. The surgeries themselves remain open during this time.

When your surgery is closed you may still telephone the usual Rowhedge number –  01206 728585 to hear the options of who to call out of hours.

NHS 111

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS111 Telephone 111 to speak to an operator who will triage your call. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
